The Fertility Circle
In order to be able to offer products that are capable of transmitting the healing forces of their source ingredients, we actively and consciously join the integral, virtuous circle of the biological chain that sustains us.
Our farm, Rancho la Paz, is certified USDA Organic by IMO Switzerland and Biodynamic by Demeter International Germany, guaranteeing that our production processes are executed with the utmost care surpassing the highest internationally accepted standards.
At Sanandi, we first help the living land maintain its fertility; we believe this to be the crucial and necessary first step of the production process and that the quality of a product ultimately depends entirely on it.
Our process continues with the use of organic, open-pollinated seeds sourced from our own seed bank; when necessary, we obtain them from plants that for generations have been cultivated without the use of agrochemicals and that have grown in a clean, fertile, biodiverse soil.
The seeds are then sprouted in our farm’s greenhouse, and then carefully hand-planted in our terraces during the early spring season. In our fields, we use biodynamic agriculture which strives to create a balanced ecosystem, promoting and maintaining as much fertility as possible from within the farm itself. We irrigate our fields with the crystal-clear water of our Spring, located deep in our farm’s forest.
In our terraces, we cultivate a great variety of medicinal plants that are harvested at the right time of the year, when their medicinal principles and agents are found to be at their highest concentration.
During the next stage, the plants are delicately dehydrated in a stone and wooden housing that maintains a constant temperature of 95º F. Other herbs are transformed immediately in our laboratory into the tinctures, ferments, and essential oils that are incorporated into our Sanandi product line.
Finally, we keep our extracts inside our farm’s dark stone building which naturally maintains a desired cool temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit year-round — without the use of electrical air conditioning or heating.
