When we think of skin care, we typically think of a daily and nightly routine, an unmissable regimen that tethers us to the bathroom counter twice a day.
The Deep Nourishing Cream can change that.
Now, if you’re a certified skin care junkie and you love your routine, this product can plug right in after your toner and serum like the perfect end to your tailored skin story.
But if you’re like me and your skin care routine starts and ends with, “easy,” the Deep Nourishing Cream—Regenerating Balsam is the answer to your grab and go problem.
You see, I travel a lot. Up until August of 2016, I had been searching for the perfect solution to my bag (yes, a literal bag) of skin care. I have sensitive skin that is very reactive to the environment so I had been carrying around different types of organic products for different types of environments.
That ended when I made a trip to the Sanandi Farm last year and Dr. Dieter handed me this product. I was skeptical at first—how could one night cream replace my carefully crafted twice-a-day routine?
By the time I left the farm, I was sold (and I got two more to take with me). The Deep Nourishing Cream is exactly that, nourishing. The glycerin and water are ultra hydrating while the propolis, herbs, and oil soothe, cleanse, protect, and moisturize—without being too heavy.
Since then, I have traveled much of the Northern Hemisphere (including the desert in the summer and the arctic in the winter) with only my favorite organic cleanser and the aptly named Deep Nourishing Cream—Regenerating Balsam for my routine skin care.
The discovery took pounds off my luggage.
What’s in a Name?
The Sanandi team will be the first to admit that “Deep Nourishing Cream—Regenerating Balsam” is a mouthful.
In fact, we have an email thread about it. We were updating the label for the cream, and we wanted the name to be perfectly descriptive. It’s laughably difficult to name such an active, useful product but as soon as this name was on the table, we knew it was the answer.
So how did we settle on Deep Nourishing Cream—Regenerating Balsam?
The same way we decide on everything. We asked ourselves and each other, “what is the essence?”
We made lists of descriptive words, talked about its uses, shared little anecdotal stories like the one above, and touched it... Oh the texture! Creamy, smooth, luxurious, thick. It sinks in so deeply while gently protecting, soothing, and nourishing skin so perfectly.
Yes, Deep Nourishing Cream—Regenerating Balsam is certainly a name that raises the bar. It creates the expectation that this product is both the anti-aging night cream you’re looking for and the soothing solution to your skin’s sensitivities, just the way we envisioned it.
What’s in the bottle?
Alright, alright, the product is incredible—you get it. Don’t just take our word for it, check out some of the key ingredients. (For the whole ingredient list, see this page)
Almond Oil is our moisturizing agent of choice in this product because it can be used on all skin types and ages. It’s gentle enough for the most sensitive skin—including for babies plus it is loaded with protective minerals and antioxidants to help reduce the signs of aging.
Almond oil moisturizes deeply for those hard-to-moisturize dry places while being light enough to help remove dirt and grime from blemish prone skin instead of clogging them.
The Deep Nourishing Cream is one of the few products that we use bee propolis in. The propolis, like all of our ingredients, is collected by hand gently and sustainably from friends on our farm. Propolis is a mixture of bee saliva in their wax that is used to patch up little-unwanted holes in the hive to keep out unwanted invaders. We use it similarly in our face cream to help protect the skin.
Instead of a silicone filler that coats the skin and keeps nutrients out, propolis is loaded with nutrients like antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins B and E, along with calcium and magnesium—plus a lot of other minerals.
One of the main herbal players in our facial cream is our good friend, Calendula. Calendula (aside from being an absolutely gorgeous yellow flower) is one of the best herbs for skin—tried and tested over thousands of years in a myriad of traditional medicines.
It soothes, cleanses, and nourishes the skin. Calendula is loaded with antioxidants that fight environmental stressors while helping to create an environment for the body to heal itself.
Ways to Use the Deep Nourishing Cream—Regenerating Balsam
There are a few different ways to use the Deep Nourishing Cream—it’s not just a face cream, which means you’re adding versatility to the ease of using this product. I did mention it took literal pounds off my luggage, right?
Here’s how to use it:
As an anti-aging night cream. After cleansing, put a pea-sized amount in the palm of your hands, run your hands together, and pat gently into your face. This is good for all skin types—dry skin may use a bit more, oily skin a bit less.
On your hands and feet. For people that spend time walking, working with their hands (rock climbing anyone?), or just want to feel as smooth as silk, the Deep Nourishing Cream is the way to go.
Our favorite way to use it for hands and feet is after a sugar scrub and a soak. When you have some time to relax, take 1-2 tablespoons of sugar (since you’re not eating it anymore this is the perfect way to use it up) and add about a teaspoon of your favorite oil. Scrub your hands and feet with your homemade scrub. Rinse it off—this is where we love to have a soak, whether in the tub or just a foot soak. Apply a pea-sized amount of the Deep Nourishing Cream to your hands and feet (or as much as you like) and relax as it soaks in.
To soothe skin. This is great to apply to your skin for temporary relief of itchiness, and for keeping skin soft around scrapes. Spreading on a little bit before putting a band-aid on helps keep the skin able to heal itself so it can stay malleable while it’s healing.
After the sun. Imagine you wake up and it’s a beautiful day outside. You walk out with your cup of tea and notice a few weeds in the garden. Suddenly two hours have gone by, your tea is gone, and you’ve been in the sun without your sun protection—things feel a little tight, maybe they’re starting to get a bit red. Just head inside, cleanse with your organic cleanser and use your Deep Nourishing Cream—Regenerating Balsam right away. Let it soak in, then apply your sun protection before heading back out.
